Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) invites a Field Application Engineer Intern to join our San Jose team for a summer program. You will collaborate with cross-functional groups to apply FPGA-based and x86 solutions, develop demos, and create training materials while gaining hands-on design experience.

You should be enrolled in a US university pursuing a Master’s in Computer or Electrical Engineering, with digital design and HDL exposure, and be comfortable working full-time in a hybrid or onsite

Qualifications

• Pursuing US-based Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in digital design and HDL (VHDL/Verilog).
• Familiarity with CPU architecture and data structures/algorithms.
• Available for full-time hybrid/onsite internship in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve real-world problems using FPGA-based and x86 solutions.
• Develop and present technical demos, proofs-of-concept, and training materials.
• Gain hands-on experience with FPGA hardware, software tools, and design methodologies.
• Work on projects involving machine learning and high-speed serial I/O.

JOB DETAILS:

• Locations: San Jose, CA
• Onsite/Hybrid: This role requires the student to work full time (40 hours a week), in either a hybrid or onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co‑op/intern term

Duration:

• Summer Internship
  • Semester Students: May 24, 2027 - August 13, 2027
  • Quarter Students: June 21, 2027 - September 10, 2027

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

We are seeking highly motivated Field Application Engineer Intern to join our team at AMD. In this role -

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve real‑world problems using FPGA‑based and x86 solutions.
• Gain in‑depth knowledge of FPGA hardware, x86 servers, software tools, and design methodologies.
• Develop and present technical demos, proofs‑of‑concept, and training materials.
• Work with cool technology like machine learning, signal processing, high speed serial I/O

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Currently enrolled in a US based University in a Master’s degree program majoring in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• If you haveknowledge / experience with any of the following technical skills (or related areas) and are enthusiastic about this role, we strongly encourage you to apply –
  • Highly motivated engineers with experience in digital design.
  • Engineers interested in technical sales who help customers get their designs done faster.
• Exposure to Digital Design (VHDL / Verilog)
• Exposure to CPU computer architecture
• Familiarity withbasicprogramming, data structures and algorithms
• Exposure to OOPlanguages(C++ /System Verilog/ etc.)
• Exposure toScriptinglanguages(Perl /Python)
