Job summary

AMD is seeking a DSP Engineer Intern to join the DFE Technology team in San Jose, CA. You will work on RF modeling for RF amplifiers using MATLAB, and explore adaptive approaches to improve linearity for 5G/6G terrestrial and NTN applications.

The internship runs full-time onsite with summer session dates May 24, 2027 - August 13, 2027 (semester) or June 21, 2027 – September 10, 2027 (quarter). MS candidate in wireless/wired communications preferred.

Qualifications

• Completed coursework in Digital Signal Processing and Digital Communications.
• Completed coursework in machine learning and various neural networks.
• Background in non-linear system analysis and in RNN/LSTM architectures.

JOB DETAILS

• Location: San Jose, CA, USA
• Onsite: This role requires the student to work full time (40 hours a week), mostly onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

DFE Technology team develops high performance and low-cost digital front end (DFE) Radio designs for 5G/6G terrestrial and NTN applications with AMD’s unique RFSoC and Versal products and influences future device architectures. As a DSP Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with experienced team members on:

• Tx/Rx RF modeling in MATLAB for RF Amplifier non-linear responses usingadaptive algorithms (LS, LMS, RLS, Gradient Descent etc) along with advanced ML algorithms
• Explore various advanced adaptive approaches for closed loop linearity improvements.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Completed Electromagnetic Theory, Matrix Theory, Digital Signal Processing and Digital Communications coursework
• Completed coursework in machine learning and various neural networks
• Background in non-linear system analysis
• Background in RNN, LSTM and other advanced long memory network
• Background in Wireless Communications
• MS Candidate – Wired/Wireless Communications background
