Job summary

Ally Financial is offering a paid 11-week internship designed to move students from educated to experienced. The program mentors across teams, provides development opportunities, and connects interns with Ally leadership.

You'll work 40 hours per week in a hybrid schedule (mix of in-office and remote), engage in hands-on, project-based work, and present an end-of-assignment project. Successful interns may return to Ally in a full-time role or in another internship.

Qualifications

• Must be graduating between December 2027 and May 2029.
• Majoring in Finance or taking finance courses.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to collaborate well in teams.
• A rising Junior or Senior (during the time of internship) in a full-time undergraduate program
• Eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship from the company now or in the future
• Well-rounded in academics, volunteering, and fun!
• Eager to challenge the status quo

Work Schedule

Ally designates roles as (1) fully on‑site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. The Work Itself

The Details

• Internship Program Timing: May 26 – August 7, 2027
• 40 hours each week with a mix of in‑office and remote working days
• Project‑based work
• Market competitive hourly compensation and a sign‑on bonus, as well as financial housing assistance for those who qualify
• Successful interns will have the opportunity to return to Ally in an Early Talent Program or full‑time role, or to a second internship, depending upon graduation timing.

Areas Of Opportunity

• Sponsor / Specialty Finance: provides middle‑market leverage lending dedicated to supporting key private equity relationships.
• Capital Markets: provides the flexibility of Priority Revolvers in large transactions and assists deal teams to structure, price, and distribute the debt to other lenders.
• Real Estate: provides cash flow and asset‑based financing for healthcare facilities, multi‑family residential complexes, industrial buildings, and student housing.
• Technology Finance: provides debt solutions to (i) growth stage, venture‑capital backed technology companies and (ii) private equity‑backed technologies businesses that have a traditional leveraged finance profile.
• Lender Finance: finances asset managers through carefully structured asset‑based loan.

Preferred Qualifications

• A passion for the financial services and technology industry is strongly preferred
• Previous internship experience, extracurricular activities, and leadership experience
• Candidates should reside in a commutable distance from the Ally location to which they are assigned

Base Pay Range

$25.00 - $29.00

An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.

Incentive Compensation

This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
