Job summary

Ally Financial is offering an 11-week paid internship in Charlotte, NC, within Consumer Banking's Financial Crimes team. You will work 40 hours per week with a mix of in-office and remote days, and gain hands-on experience with data analysis, dashboard development, SQL, and Power BI.

Work Schedule

The Work Itself

As part of our Internship Program, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Own an end of assignment presentation
The Details

Internship Program Timing: May 21 - July 31, 2027 (tentative)

40 hours each week with a mix of in-office and remote working days

Project-based work

Market competitive hourly compensation and a sign-on bonus, as well as financial housing assistance for those who qualify

Successful interns will have the opportunity to return to Ally in an Early Talent Program or full-time role, or to a second internship, depending upon graduation timing.

Consumer Banking

Consumer Banking is all about the customer. As a summer intern within the Financial Crimes organization at Ally, you will play a key role in one of the bank's core values: building trust with our customers.

Intern Key Experiences
  • Support the Fraud Analytics team in identifying trends, patterns, and emerging risks across Consumer Banking products and channels.
  • Assist with data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development to help monitor fraud performance and support investigative efforts.
  • Partner with analysts and business stakeholders to evaluate fraud prevention strategies, measure outcomes, and provide actionable insights.
  • Gain exposure to banking operations, risk management, data analytics, and the technologies used to protect customers and the bank from financial fraud.
  • A focus in business with preferred degree such as: Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
The Skills You Bring
  • Required qualifications.
  • Rising Junior or Senior (during the time of internship) in a full-time undergraduate program.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Available for the full duration of the internship program.
  • Eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship from the company now or in the future.
  • A passion for the financial services and technology industry is strongly preferred.
  • Preferred qualifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in using data to identify trends and support business decisions.
  • Data Analysis Skills: SQL & Power BI tools. The will also learn how to tell a story with data and frame their thinking to enhance Ally's Financial Crimes Story
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, attention to detail, and interest in fraud prevention, risk management, or financial services.
