Job summary

American Family Insurance is offering a Data Engineer internship in Madison, WI. The program spans 10 to 14 weeks, starting mid to late May and ending in August. Interns will build data pipelines using SQL, Python, and cloud technologies, with opportunities for networking and coaching.

Description

As a Data Engineer intern for American Family Insurance, you will assist in building and enhancing data pipelines using SQL, Python and cloud technologies; analyze data issues, perform quality checks and support troubleshooting and resolution; work with engineering and business teams to document solutions and deliver reliable data for analytics and reporting.

An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August.

During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching.

Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam office location.

Compensation Minimum: $25.00

Compensation Maximum: $39.00

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

• Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2027 or later.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.
• Major/program must align with internship role.
• Strongly prefer candidates graduating in August 2027, December 2027 or May 2028.August
• SQL, Python and cloud technologies like GCP or AWS.
• Licenses: Not applicable.
• Travel Requirements: Up to 10%.
• Physical Requirements: Work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
• Working Conditions: Not applicable.

Additional Information

• To ensure a strong start, all employees participate in our New Employee Orientation during their first week. This experience is held in person at our Madison, WI Headquarters or one of our AmFam core locations to help you connect with our mission, meet key team members and build relationships that support your growth. At times, sessions may be delivered virtually based on scheduling and availability.

Work Location:

This role may be considered for a Full-Time in Office or Hybrid work arrangement based on the selected candidate's location. Work locations for this role include Madison, WI.
