American Family Insurance invites you to join our Summer 2027 Intern - Application Development program in a Hybrid setting (Boston, MA or Madison, WI). As a Software Engineering intern, you will contribute to QA automation across backend, sales, API and UI, and gain exposure to multiple areas of the business.

The role requires enrollment in a CS-related degree with graduation flexibility and experience or interest in automation and modern testing tools such as Playwright and REST Assured.

Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching. Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam office location. Compensation Minimum: $25.00 As a Software Engineering intern, you will work on software quality assurance so writing up automations to test various sales applications and platforms (backend, sales, API, UI, etc.).**Responsibilities*** Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.* Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.* You will work on coding for digital payments and working on API's. **Requirements*** Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2027 or later; however, for this role, we strongly prefer candidates graduating in August 2028 or later.* Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD. Major/program must align with internship role--for this role, Computer Science or related.* You should have demonstrated experience or interest in automation. Technologies listed here would be preferred: Java, UI Automation, Playwright, JavaScript, TypeScript, REST Assured, or API microservice architecture.### Additional Information* To ensure a strong start, all employees participate in our New Employee Orientation during their first week.
