Job summary

Diamondback Energy in Midland, TX is offering a Human Resources Intern position for a 12-week summer program (May–August 2027). You will work on an assigned HR project and present findings to the executive team, while gaining hands-on experience in HR functions.

Under a dedicated mentor, you'll collaborate with HR and other teams to explore what it's like to operate in an oil and gas exploration and production company.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in relevant fields.

• Must be willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration.
• Must be returning to school Fall 2027 semester.

Responsibilities

• Complete an HR project and present to Diamondback's executive team.
• Develop HR skills under a dedicated mentor.
• Collaborate with HR and other teams to learn oil & gas operations.
• Support recruiting activities including candidate communication and onboarding.
• Assist with employee relations, compensation, benefits data gathering.
• Help create training materials for staff across the organization.
• Participate in field visits to learn about field operations.
• Attend intern events and community activities in Midland-Odessa.

Job description

Human Resources Intern

Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas. We are focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas.

Duration: Approximately 12 weeks (May - August 2027)

Job Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to:

• Work on an assigned, individual Human Resources project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback's executive team
• Develop human resources skills under the supervision and guidance of an assigned, experienced mentor
• Work directly with teams across Human Resources and other disciplines to experience what working in an Oil & Gas Exploration and Production company is like
• Support recruiting activities such as candidate communication, interview scheduling, or onboarding
• Assist with employee relations, compensation, and benefits projects, including data gathering and analysis in HRIS
• Help develop and deliver training and development materials for employees across the organization
• Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and completions spread
• Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavours that support the Midland-Odessa community

Required Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Management, Human Resources, Psychology, Organizational Development or a similar discipline
• Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
• Must be willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration of the internship
• Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cumulative GPA 3.20 or higher
• Extracurricular achievements or prior work experience
