Job summary

The Seattle Times is seeking a graphics intern to create maps, charts and illustrations for a wide range of assignments from news to features, business and sports. You will generate visual story ideas and engage in regular conversations with editors and graphic artists to learn from feedback.

You will also meet deadlines set by the graphics team and gain hands-on experience with data visualization, drawing and design while refining your Illustrator/Photoshop skills.

• Applicants must be journalism majors or have a demonstrated commitment to print or online journalism, possess social media skills, and be digitally astute.
• Internship experience at other news organizations is strongly preferred.
• Applicants must have experience with Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and should have strong data visualization, drawing, mapping and design skills.
