Job summary

Aalo Atomics in Austin, TX is seeking a motivated student or recent graduate to join the Field Operations team for a 12- to 16-week term.

You will assist in research, logistics, travel on-site, and work with design engineers and manufacturing to realize designs both in the shop and in the field.

This hands-on role provides daily mentorship, exposure to early-stage nuclear hardware projects, and opportunity to contribute to deployable microreactor programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering or closely related field.
• Must be able to travel within the continental US and work on-site in Austin, TX.
• Physically fit for duty and able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods in PPE.
• Able to commit to 12 consecutive weeks on-site.

About the role

Join our Field Operations team in Austin as we support the manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and operation of all Aalo projects. Over a 12‑ to 16‑week term you will work with multiple other teams to support the upcoming Aalo-0 and Aalo-X projects while gaining daily mentorship on the shop‑floor as well as field operations experience.

Required Qualifications

• Growth mindset and positive attitude
• Completed Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering (or closely related field).
• Air travel compliant form of ID and valid Driver's License.
• Physically fit for duty – capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods of time while wearing PPE.
• Able to work full‑time, on‑site in Austin TX, for at least 12 consecutive weeks.
• Able to Travel (at Aalo’s expense) to out of state locations in the continental U.S. for up to two weeks at a time.
• Must provide own housing and daily transportation to the Austin facility; on‑site parking is available.
• Some tasks involve standing, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 25 lbs while wearing PPE.
• Basic familiarity with powered and manual tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• GPA of 3.4+.
• CAD familiarity.
• Hands‑on engineering experience (course projects, research, internships, student shop, or personal builds).
• Hands on experience with power tools and heavy equipment operation.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technicians in a fast‑paced shop environment.
