About Aalo Atomics

Aalo Atomics is pioneering a new era in clean energy with factory-fabricated microreactors designed to deliver affordable, scalable, and reliable nuclear power. Our mission is to make nuclear energy globally accessible, starting with the Aalo-1, a 10 MWe reactor leveraging cutting-edge safety, modularity, and efficiency. Based in Austin, TX, we’re rapidly growing as we work to deploy the world’s first fleet of advanced microreactors. Join us and help revolutionize energy for a sustainable future.

About the role

Aalo Atomics is seeking a highly motivated, adaptable, and hands-on Field Technician to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of equipment, machinery, and systems in a wide variety of environments. This is not a typical technician role—our work ranges from routine mechanical installations to complex industrial deployments requiring technical expertise, problem-solving, and a strong commitment to safety.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with their hands, operating heavy equipment, traveling on short notice, and taking ownership of challenging projects from start to finish. If you thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy tackling complex technical work, we'd like to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, and integrated systems ranging from simple mechanical assemblies to complex industrial installations.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
  • Operate heavy equipment, vehicles, lifts, cranes, forklifts, and other machinery as required.
  • Perform field work in a variety of environments, including industrial facilities, construction sites, manufacturing plants, and remote locations.
  • Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, diagnostics, and performance verification of installed systems.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure successful execution of field activities.
  • Document work performed, equipment status, installation progress, and service reports.
  • Maintain compliance with all company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Respond to urgent operational needs and support critical projects as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Technical training, trade certification, military experience, or equivalent hands‑on industrial experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial equipment, machinery, electrical systems, or related technologies.
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate heavy equipment and specialized tools.
  • Experience reading technical drawings, schematics, and installation documentation.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively to a team.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel is required.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, or other high‑reliability regulated industries.
  • Hands‑on skills in one or more of machining, assembly, rigging, or field inspection.
  • Experience with commissioning, functional testing, and turnover of mechanical systems.
  • Heavy equipment or material‑handling equipment operation experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier loads with appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise.
  • Ability to pass applicable safety, medical, and site‑access requirements.
Travel & Schedule Expectations
  • Must be willing and able to travel frequently, including on short notice.
  • Availability for extended shifts, overtime, weekends, and occasional emergency response work when operational needs require.
  • Flexibility to support projects that may involve long hours during critical installation, commissioning, or maintenance activities.
  • Travel may range from local day trips to multi‑week assignments.
