Job summary
Nationwide invites talented students to join the E&S Wholesale Underwriting Internship in Scottsdale, AZ from June to August 2027. This 12-week program includes housing and travel assistance for qualified candidates and offers exposure to excess & surplus lines within a Fortune 100 company.
Interns participate in meetings, classroom sessions, and on-the-desk training, applying product knowledge to support stakeholders and drive meaningful business results within a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Marketing, Business Management, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Completion of junior year is preferred.
- 3.0 GPA or higher is desired.
- Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience.
Responsibilities
- Participating in department and company meetings.
- Classroom sessions to build skills and knowledge.
- On-the-desk training.
- Using knowledge of products & coverages to support internal and external stakeholders.
- Networking with business partners to understand operations.
- Complete projects with other Underwriting interns to drive business results.

Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program. At its sole discretion, Nationwide determines whether to offer sponsorship for qualifying positions based on business need and budget. However, it is not usually available for entry level roles.
Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment.
The national hourly pay range for Nationwide Internships is: $23 - $50
