Qualifications

• Pursuing a Construction Management degree with graduation planned for 2027/2028.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate gas construction support with commercial/industrial customers.
• Assist in preparing estimates for construction and maintenance of gas distribution systems.
• Provide information to customers, contractors, and officials about construction activity and jobs.
• Confirm job readiness and approve crew assignments as prerequisites are met.
• Provide job status updates and information on next jobs during delays.
• Coordinate site pre-inspections, line locates, flaggers, and ROW permits.

We’re seeking motivated and high-performing students to join our Field Operations team for Summer 2027 in Overland Park, KS. This internship offers dynamic work, giving interns exposure to real‑world field operations functions, processes, and projects.

Interns will work on impactful projects, collaborate with professionals across departments, and participate in networking events with peers and company leadership.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

Provide support to coordination of gas construction with commercial and industrial customers.

Assist in preparation of estimates for construction and maintenance of new and existing gas distribution systems.

Provide information and assistance to customers, contractors, public works officials, employees and others concerning construction activity, job orders, billings and other related issues.

Confirm when specific jobs are ready to be scheduled by ensuring that all pre‑requisites are satisfied and approve for crews to be assigned.

Provide job status. Provide information on next jobs in the event of an unexpected delay.

Support Pre‑requisite Management To Ensure Project Pre‑requisites Are Coordinated Within a Specified Time Frame. Pre‑requisites May Include But Are Not Limited To

• Pre-site inspections
• Order flaggers
• Order line locates
• ROW and material requisition permits

Participate in on‑going status updates with applicable departments to ensure a seamless transition of workload including, by exception, the transfer of a job back from Field Operations to work coordination.

Coordinate site pre-inspections to ensure work readiness, as applicable.

Utilize drafting computer and/or hand draw information including but not limited to:

• Engineering drawings
• Highway/railroad crossing permits
• Right of way drawings
• Pipeline alignment/site/profile drawings
• Maps
• Property plats

Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What You Will Need

Ideal Candidates Are

• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, preferably graduating in December 2027 or May 2028.
• Enrolled at Kansas State University or Pittsburg State University.
• Maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Involved in extracurricular activities, community service, or leadership roles.
• Experienced through prior internships, part-time jobs, or volunteer work.

Compensation: All ONE Gas internship positions are paid. We offer a fair and competitive pay rate.

Housing Assistance: Based on the location of your assignment vs. your college and/or primary residence, you may be eligible to receive housing assistance.
