Job summary

Kiewit is seeking Design Engineer Interns for their construction teams. This internship offers hands-on, real-world learning across the construction process, with emphasis on design engineering, planning, and safety.

Ideal candidates are pursuing civil engineering or construction management degrees and are prepared for a summer full-time schedule, with opportunities to relocate as needed. The role supports field engineering tasks, project scheduling, cost control, and coordination with suppliers

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management or related.
• Must be able to travel or relocate as needed.
• Ability to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August).
• Member of the Kiewit Scholars Program (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities
• Performing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction
• Maintaining records regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
• Planning and scheduling of job and/or job segments
• Investigating problems and/or incidents; identifying solutions as appropriate
• Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements, pricing of materials, etc.
