Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago invites undergraduates to join its Communications Department as an intern for an eight- to twelve-week summer program. You’ll plan, create and execute materials for patients, clinicians, executives and staff, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced health communications team.

Responsibilities include writing and editing articles, managing timelines, proofreading, and coordinating with managers and legal for approvals.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate program.
• Completion of at least the sophomore year of study.

Responsibilities

• Help plan, execute and deliver tactics needed to launch comprehensive communications campaigns.
• Write and edit articles, letters, emails and other communications.
• Provide writing support to team members and clients, as needed.
• Create timelines for tactics and manage them to ensure delivery.
• Proofread all materials and get the appropriate approvals (such as those from managers and legal staff).
• Serve as a project manager for materials that need to be designed and edited.
• Monitor the effectiveness of communications tactics through analytics and other measurement tactics.
• Utilize project management skills to create collateral products that support client campaigns.
• Present your work completed over the course of your internship to the department.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
