Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to support the Civil team across design and construction tasks, including municipal street reconstruction, bridge inspection, and design. This internship offers hands-on experience and exposure to client-driven standards.

You'll gain mentorship from industry professionals, work on office and field tasks, and have potential to continue through the school year based on performance and business needs; U.S. work authorization required.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Civil 3D or Bentley Open Roads Designer is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and analyze engineering systems.
• Plan preparation including grading, erosion control, traffic control, pavement marking, street lighting, utility design.
• Develop plans and specifications meeting state/municipality requirements.
• Perform construction observation duties on assigned projects.

Job description

The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking a talented and motivated Civil Engineer Intern to join our Civil team for Summer 2027. The selected candidate could support both construction and design, which will provide a well-rounded experience throughout the summer. Typical project work includes municipal street reconstruction, county structure replacement, county-wide sign replacements, bridge inspection, and bridge design. We are looking for candidates that are eager to expand their knowledge base and grow their career. Prospective candidates are expected to be committed to client satisfaction, and adhere strictly to client-driven standards, schedules, budgets, and passionate about working with our clients and team!

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, implement, and analyze engineering systems
• Under supervision, plan preparation that includes but is not limited to grading plans, erosion control plans, traffic control plans, pavement marking, street lighting, underground utility design, and pavement design
• Develop plans and specifications that comply with preexisting state and municipality requirements
• Demonstrate a wide degree of out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and design ownership
• Perform construction observation duties on assigned projects
• Maintain records, construction quantities, checklists, daily reports, and documentation for construction administration projects in accordance with municipality requirements
• Coordinate on-site materials testing
• Perform work within both office and field settings

Additional Opportunity Details:

Target Base Compensation for this role is $25-$27/hr.
