About The Position

This role is field-based and involves conducting on-site investigations to identify, designate, and map underground utilities using geophysical locating equipment. The SUE/Survey Technician I will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and efficient utility data collection for engineering and construction projects. The SUE/Survey Technician I collaborates closely with other members of the SUE and surveying teams, engaging in on-the-job learning experiences aimed at cultivating the essential skills and knowledge required for progression within the SUE and surveying field.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; technical training or an associate’s degree in surveying, GIS, or civil engineering is a plus.
• 0-2 years of field experience in utility locating, surveying, or subsurface utility engineering.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
• Experience with electromagnetic utility locating equipment and GPR systems preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, utility maps, and survey drawings.
• Basic knowledge of GPS, GIS, and AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with field teams.
• Analytical skills and attention to detail when collecting field data.
• Communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
