Job summary

DRMP is seeking an experienced or aspiring subsurface utility (SUE) technician to help locate underground utilities in Chipley, Florida, using EMI and GPR. The position involves operating vacuum excavation equipment, performing field activities with minimal supervision, and documenting data through sketches and reports.

Responsibilities include training on safety, mentoring junior staff, coordinating with clients and design teams, and ensuring high-quality fieldwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability/willingness to travel for work assignments, including overnight.
• Ability to lift 60 lbs.
• Ability to work outside in all seasons and conditions.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities using EMI and GPR.
• Operate vacuum excavation trucks and related equipment.
• Perform utility mark-outs, surveying tasks, and SUE field activities with minimal supervision.
• Document field data through sketches, photos, spreadsheets, daily reports, and summaries.
• Read and interpret technical documents.
• Maintain and troubleshoot vacuum excavation systems and field equipment.
• Train on safe operation and maintenance of vehicles and tools.
• Support and mentor junior field staff as needed.
• Assist senior team members with project coordination involving clients, agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.
• Maintain high standards of quality control and attention to detail in fieldwork.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
