Job summary

The Northwestern Community Services Board is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor in Virginia. This role involves managing a caseload of adults with substance use disorders, providing counseling and overseeing the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in relevant human services and a year of experience in the field, along with a valid driver’s license. Competitive hourly compensation between $27.07 and $28.99 is offered.

Qualifications

  • Registered CSAC supervisee under supervision for CSAC certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor is responsible for managing an assigned caseload of adults diagnosed with substance use disorders. The incumbent is responsible for providing substance use counseling and the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) as well as working with Agency staff and other community resources in meeting client service needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree earned from an accredited college or university in relevant human services required.
  • At least one year of experience working with clients with substance use disorders to satisfy Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and CSAC requirements.
  • Registered CSAC supervisee under supervision for CSAC certification required upon hire.
  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and the ability to provide your own transportation.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • May be exposed to allergenic environments from client’s homes, including dust, smoke, pet contamination, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • May be exposed to clients with infectious diseases
  • Must be able to drive for long periods of time to travel in and out of the catchment area as needed
  • Must be able to walk distances, climb and descend stairs, maneuver in and out of agency vehicles
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds at times
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License, good driving record and the ability to provide own transportation

SALARY: $27.07 – $28.99/hour
