Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Success Coach for the Office of Student Accommodations and Testing on the Wichita, KS campus. This full-time, on-site role assists students with disabilities by coordinating accommodations and services to help them reach academic goals.

You will conduct outreach, advise diverse students, and maintain confidentiality while promoting student success. A high school diploma and relevant advising experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to relate well to the unique needs of college students with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret 504 law and ADA/ADAA compliance.
  • Experience using MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

  • Provides student support with life skills development and elimination of retention barriers.
  • Facilitates connections with campus and community services and resources.
  • Supports academic colleges and faculty on enrollment management and retention goals.
  • Identifies student populations, conducts outreach campaigns and supports retention initiatives.

Pay: Range begins at $22.02 per hour and can be adjustedbased on experience

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8-5; work is performedon-site and in person.

Teaching students how to advocate for theirneeds; providing access to on-campus and off-campus resources; aswell as providing access to other tools that will be a foundationfor academic and post-graduation success are but a few of the superpowers used by a Success Coach.

Job Summary

Conducts outreach campaigns, counsels with college(s), and advisesdiverse, "at-risk" student populations regarding their academicplans, progress, and academic and career goals in order to assiststudents in making personal education decisions and meetinggraduation requirements. Provides risk assessments and interpretsstudent needs for assigned areas. Provides individualized serviceand assistance while maintaining confidentiality while focusing onstudent success.

Essential Functions

Provides support to assignedacademic college(s) and faculty on program-specific strategicenrollment management and retention goals and initiatives.Identifies specific student populations, conducts outreachcampaigns and supports campus-wide retention initiatives.

Job Duties
  • Provides student support with life skills development,identification and elimination of retention barriers and academicprograms.
  • Facilitates connections with campus and community services andresources when needed.
  • Provides support to assigned academic college(s) and faculty onprogram-specific strategic enrollment management and retentiongoals and initiatives.
  • Identifies specific student populations, conducts outreachcampaigns and supports campus-wide retention initiatives.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six (6) years of experience in graduate or professionaladvising or counseling experience with college students or relatedfield. Every 30 hours of college coursework can be substituted forone (1) year of experience, up to 120 hours.
Required License/Certifications/Training:
  • None
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to relate well to the unique needs of college studentswith disabilities, including a desire to work one-on-one with thesestudents to help meet their academic needs.
  • Ability to work with and understand the needs of faculty.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both writtenand oral.
  • Computer skills and the ability and willingness to learn andthen train others on accessibility software programs.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret results of variousassessments and diagnostic tools used to diagnose different typesof disabilities and make recommendations for reasonableaccommodations required.
  • Demonstrated experience using MS Office and Adobe Acrobatapplication.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret 504 law and ADA/ADAAcompliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a related field
Additional Information:

Please note that, as we experience a higher volume of activity atthe beginning of the Fall semester, the review and interviewprocess may take a little longer than usual.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate acomputer and other office equipment including but not limited tophone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicatewith others and accurately exchange information. Ability to move ortraverse across campus, within buildings and offices, and/or acrossexternal environments.
