Responsibilities

  • Coordinate student educational placements and service delivery with staff, students, and affiliates.
  • Monitor student program readiness and ensure compliance with program requirements.

  • Coordinate meetings, conferences, and events; prepare correspondence, reports, and materials.
  • Oversee daily office operations; manage staff changes, training, supplies, and equipment.

Campus Location: Wichita, KS - WSU Main Campus

Hire Type: Full Time

Pay: Starting at $49,300 and can be adjusted based onexperience

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm; work is performed on-site and in person.

As the Placement and Office Coordinator in the College of Education, you will serve as a central connection between students, faculty, school district partners, and university staff to ensure high-quality field and clinical experiences. You will coordinate educational placements, monitor student readiness and compliance with program requirements, and help ensure that accreditation standards, university policies, and partnership agreements are met.

Success in this position requires someone who is highly organized, proactive, and detail oriented. You will communicate regularly with students, faculty, and external partners, identify opportunities to strengthen placement processes and services, and help maintain strong relationships with school districts and community partners. Your work will directly contribute to creating meaningfulexperiential learning opportunities for future educators.

You will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the dean’s and advising offices in the College of Education by maintaining accurate records, coordinating meetings and events, preparing correspondence and reports, managing office resources, and ensuring policies and procedures are current. As the person others rely on to keep operations running smoothly, you will independently resolve many day-to-day challenges while collaborating with colleagues on more complex issues.

Your work will help ensure that future Shocker teachers are well prepared through high-quality clinical experiences while contributing to the success of the College of Education's mission to prepare outstanding educators, counselors, sport management professionals, and leaders.

Job Summary

Oversees student placement opportunities, program administration and enhancements. Ensures compliance with affiliate agreements. Recommends new or improved service delivery efforts. Prepares and maintains program data. Coordinates the office activities of a department including the reception area, business operations, and facilities.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinates with department staff, students and affiliates to facilitate student educational placements and service delivery, ensuring compliance with service agreements, policies and regulations. Provides recommendations for program service enhancements. Communicates contractual responsibilities to staff, students and program affiliates.
  • Identifies and implements strategic recruitment plans. Coordinates and promotes program services at student and affiliate outreach events to meet educational, accreditation, experiential and applied learning needs.
  • Monitors, records and identifies student program readiness. Ensures program requirements and records are up to date and in accordance with program agreements.
  • Ensures accurate maintenance of office records, manuals and documents keeping abreast of new policies and procedures and informs appropriate staff of changes.
  • Coordinates all office functions including but not limited to administering staff changes, training, supplies, equipment maintenance, repairs and renovations. Resolves office problems independently and facilitates solutions; confers with supervisor to resolve more complex situations.
  • Coordinates and schedules arrangements for meetings, conferences, and events. Performs clerical duties such as prepares and distributes correspondence, forms, reports, presentation materials and other written communications.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent in related field
  • Six (6) years of experience in higher education or student services. Every 30 hours of college coursework can be substituted for one (1) year of experience, up to 120 hours.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and school partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and accreditation requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and effectively use university information systems and databases.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service and supporting student success.

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related area

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position. Frequent 60-90%

Additional Physical Requirement:

Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time.
