Job summary

Flint Center for Educational Excellence is seeking a dedicated Success Coach to lead expanded learning opportunities for Flint kids. The role focuses on mentoring, literacy and numeracy support, and coordinating activities during school hours and after-school programs.

The position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a background in youth development, and the ability to collaborate with teachers and families. Compensation is $35,000–$45,000 annually and full-time hours.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with related experience in youth development, recreation, education, or human services.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social services, or related field preferred.
  • CPR & First Aid certifications, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Ability to interact effectively with educators, parents, and students.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and conduct checks are required.

Responsibilities

  • Expected work hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with some weekend hours.
  • Mentor and support Flint kids through mentoring activities and small-group sessions.
  • Plan and implement expanded learning opportunities before, during, and after school.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with teachers, administrators, and families.
  • Ensure compliance with Michigan childcare licensing regulations and site safety protocols.

Summary

Reporting to theExpanded Learning Coordinator, the Success Coach will collaborate as part of adynamicsite-based teamtosupportFlint kidsthrough Success Mentoring and out-of-school times, ensuring they receive the highest quality of education that prepares them to thrive in community, college, career, and beyond As a full-time employee-working during the schoolday and out-of-school time-the Success Coach willmonitor the progress of a caseload of students and work with teachers and other

school staff to curate expanded learning opportunities that ensure Flint kids thrive in school. Additionally, the Success Coach will be responsible for the general supervision and/or implementation of site-based expanded learning opportunities, including before, during (non-instructional periods), and afterschool programming.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Expected work hours are Monday through Friday from 11a.m. to 7 p.m with some weekend hours.
Success Coaching & Mentoring
  • Maintainrelationships with keypersonnelthroughout the school site through attendancein jointlesson planning meetings and trainings, and being a resource in supportingFlintkids thriving.
  • Facilitate success mentoring activities with identified students one-on-one and in small groups.
  • Strengthen Flint kids' literacy and numeracy skillsby applying varying learning activities based onstudents' developmental and academiclevels, answerquestions, scaffoldand supplement coreinstructionat school, and encourage assignment/homework completion.
  • Co-create andimplement a system of behavioral intervention thatensuresFlintkids arenotdenied access to educational opportunities.
  • Conduct regularfollow-up and evaluation of Flint kids'progress;maintain communication with students, teachers, administrators, andfamilies.
  • Keepupdatedinformation on partner organizations that provide support services;identifygaps inthe Flint Center's referral partner network.
  • Assist Flint kids and families to identify community resources that address their desires and meet their demonstrated needs; support referrals to those supports through warm hand-offs to partner organizations.
Expanded Learning Support & Implementation
  • Create engaging, safe, and healthyexpandedlearning environments byembodyingthe FlintCenter'sprogramvalues of collaboration,inclusion,and fun.
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of Flint kids for expanded learning opportunities.
  • Support and/or conduct expanded learning opportunitiesand virtual learning opportunities for students before-, during-, and/or after-schoolincluding, but not limited to,academic enrichment, intervention,andacceleration,homework/tutoringsupport, recreation, studentclubs,servicelearning,and leadership development.
  • Curateintensive expanded learning opportunitiesthatintervenein or accelerate Flint kids' progressinthe areas of academics, attendance, and social-emotional development/regulation.
  • Lead and/or assist in coordinating outdoor recreational activities when weather permits
  • Ensure proper check-in and check-out of participants.
  • Develop, support,and/orfacilitateeventsandprogramsthatacknowledgeFlintkids'growthand/or achievementinattendance,math, literacy, and social-emotional development/regulation.
  • Maintain compliance with all Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) childcare licensing regulations.
Data Entry & Management
  • Collaborate with ExpandedLearningCoordinators to collect,record,analyze, and monitor Flint kids' progresson keyperformanceindicators related to attendance, literacy,numeracy, social- emotional development/regulation, and engagement inexpandedlearning opportunities.
  • Participate in facilitated reviews of student data collected and entered into the Flint Center's longitudinal data system.
  • Use monitoring tools to monitor Flint kids' progress and document all contacts with the Flint Center's initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma and a mix of education and work experiencein youth development, recreation & education, human services, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, social services administration, or related field preferred.
  • CPR & First Aid certifications, or ability to certify upon hire.
  • Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with educators, parents, and Flint kids.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and unprofessional conduct check.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
  • Knowledge of principles related to the development of youth between ages 5 -18.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
