Job summary

Farmington Municipal Schools is seeking Substitute teachers for PreK through 12 to cover classes in the absence of regular teachers. You will follow lesson plans, manage classrooms, and maintain confidentiality while supporting student learning.

This position requires a high school diploma, completion of on-boarding steps, fingerprint background check, and NM substitute license. Daily rate varies by credentials and district needs; opportunities to work across grade levels.

Qualifications

• Valid NM substitute teaching license, $50 onboarding.

General Job Description

Substitute teachers are hired to perform instructional duties in the absence of the teacher or assist the teacher in the absence of the EA.

Substitutes must have easy access to appropriate technology and the skills required for the following:

• Filling out all new hire forms online - No paper packets available
• Managing a Staff Gmail Account
• Maintaining Substitute Profile Online or through an App
• Completing Required Substitute Online Training

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired. The following may be required: Sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education requirement: Substitutes must have earned a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate
• Four hours of classroom observation at all school levels - instructions will be provided.
• 10-Print Electronic Fingerprint Background Check - $59.00 Debit or Credit (non-refundable)
  • Scheduled at the time of on-boarding appointment.
• Hold a valid New Mexico substitute teaching license - $50.00 Debit or Credit (non-refundable) - Please do not try to apply for license prior to onboarding appointment.
  • This license requires classroom observation - instructions will be provided.
  • Instructions on how to apply online will be shared during on-boarding.
• 18 years of age for grades PreK - 8 and 21 years of age for grades 9-12

Equipment/Technology Handled

Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.

Work Environment

Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. Duty assignments before and after the bell might be required.

Terms of Employment

Daily rate and work calendar established yearly by the district. Substitutes are required to take assignments a minimum of three days a month to be considered active. Unless a resignation is received, employment will automatically roll to the next school year. Substitutes are not eligible for unemployment benefits during holiday breaks or summer break and are hired as an at will employee and may be discharged at any time without cause.

• High School to 30 College Credits - 125.00 per day
• 31 to 59 College Credits - 148.00 per day
• 60+ College Credits (regardless of degree level) - 165.00 per day
• NM Certified Teachers - 197.00 per day
