Job summary

StudentNest is seeking in-person substitute tutors to deliver targeted math instruction to middle school students at sites in Los Angeles County, including Live Oak Library in Arcadia, Rosemead Library, and Baldwin Park Library.

Hours are Tue–Thu 2:30–7:30 PM (varies by site). Pay ranges from $22 to $24 per hour, based on experience. Candidates should be fingerprint-cleared and able to provide references and college credits as required.

Qualifications

• Fingerprinting clearance must be completed within 48 hours of offer.
• DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance required for position.
• Provide three professional references.
• Minimum of sixty college credits.
• At least one year of student-related experience.
• Be detail-oriented and reliable.
• Must be an effective communicator.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Negative tuberculosis test within 2 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

Hours:

• Tues-Thurs 2:30-7:30 PM or Tues/Wed 2:30-7:30, Thurs 2:00-5:30 (hours vary by site)

• $22.00-$24.00, dependent on experience, department worked and other factors

In this role, you will:

• Deliver targeted instruction in math to support middle school aged students.


• Provide small-group tutoring using provided curriculum, evidence-based strategies, and educational technology.


• Differentiate teaching strategies to meet diverse learning styles, academic needs, and developmental levels.Prepare lesson plans for sessions during designated preparation time.
