Job summary

Bracken Christian School is seeking a part-time substitute teacher to support classroom learning under the guidance of the Principal. The position is an independent contractor role with flexible hours as needed.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, with Texas Teaching Certificate preferred. Classroom experience, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a Christian faith are important.

Position Description

Responsibilities

• Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
• Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the faculty.
• Be a positive role model for students.
• Support the mission of the school.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Education / Certification

• Bachelor’s Degree is required from an accredited university or college.
• Texas Teaching Certificate is Preferred.

• General Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Other Requirements

• A minimum of two professional references are required in order to be eligible for a substitute position (family reference is not allowed). References you provide on your application will receive an electronic reference check form to complete.
• Substitutes will be required to complete annual compliance training and information regarding the training will be provided during orientation.
• BCS substitutes are required to be fingerprinted prior to orientation. BCS will contact you via email with instructions for scheduling your fingerprinting appointment. Substitutes are responsible for payment of fingerprinting.
