Job summary

Amarillo ISD is seeking a Substitute Teacher for the WTAMU/Texas Tech 2+1 Classroom Management Course. The role is part-time in Amarillo, TX, with an immediate start and daily compensation of $107–$112 per day.

The position requires enrollment in WTAMU or the Texas Tech 2+1 program, with duties including implementing lesson plans, maintaining classroom discipline, and ensuring student safety. Training and adherence to AISD policies are provided.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Manages student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and theDistrict

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Currently enrolled at WTAMU (Classroom Management)

or

Currently enrolled in the Texas Tech 2+1 Program

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
• Maintain a discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
• Ensure the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Report to office upon arrival at school; checks mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; requests clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary.
• Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
• Implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
• Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building.
• Collect and place students’ papers .
• Return instructional materials, equipment, and keys to proper place.
• Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies.
• Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division policies and practices.
• Participate in AISD Substitute Teacher staff development.
• Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
