Job summary

Utah Community Action is seeking substitute teachers to support classrooms on a flexible, on-call basis. You will help maintain a safe, nurturing environment for infants to preschoolers and plan activities that foster development.

You must be ready to work on random days and may be assigned from a day to a week or longer, with a minimum commitment of one shift every 45 days. Starting as a substitute can lead to other positions, such as Classroom Aide, with a pay raise and enrollment in the CDA

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must complete CPR/First Aid Training within 90 days of hire.
• Must complete a Food Handler's permit course within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, nurturing environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
• Plan engaging activities to support children's development.
• Communicate effectively with staff and families.
• Maintain consistent routines to provide stability during the regular teacher's absence.
• Be open to random days of the week and month; assignments can last from a day to a week or longer; you must work at least one shift every 45 days.

Pay is $16.90/hour. This position is on-call, meaning you will be contacted as needed to fulfill your duties. As a result, your schedule can fluctuate day to day, offering a dynamic work environment. While this may require adaptability, it also offers significant flexibility, allowing you to balance work commitments with personal time more effectively; starting as a substitute also opens the door to other positions, such as Classroom Aide, which come with a pay raise and enrollment in the CDA program, which UCA pays for.

Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher is a key member of the classroom team, helping provide quality education for children and their families. Their primary responsibility is to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

They plan engaging activities that support the children's development and build strong relationships to promote their growth. Additionally, they must communicate well with staff and families and maintain consistent routines to give stability during the regular teacher's absence.

To succeed in this role, you must be open to working on random days of the week and month. Your assignment can last anywhere from a day to a week or longer. If you agree to take on an assignment, you must show up. As a substitute, you must work at least one shift every 45 days.
