Job summary

Hillsboro R-III School District is seeking Substitute Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year.

Under the supervision of the school principal and in the absence of the assigned teacher, the substitute must be responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all students in assigned classes and perform related duties as required. Pay rates include daily rates of 125.00 for full day and 65.00 half day, with retiree rates at 130.00 / 70.00.

Qualifications

• Missouri Professional Educator Certificate or Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Follows existing lesson plans to provide instruction to assigned students.
• Responsible for establishing positive learning expectations for all pupils.
• Establishes and maintains reasonable rules of conduct within the classroom and on school grounds, including playgrounds, corridors, and lunchroom.
• Maintains accurate attendance records.
• Encourages student growth in self-discipline and positive self-concept; ensures fairness in teacher‑pupil relationships and exhibits an understanding and respect for students.
• Utilizes appropriate resources available in the school.
• Participates in all safety drills that may occur during the school day.

Minimum Qualifications

Substitute teacher candidates are required to provide proof of either a Missouri Professional Educator Certificate or a Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Pay Rates and Compensation

• Substitute Teacher Daily Rate (Full Day): 125.00 / (Half Day): 65.00
• Substitute Teacher Daily Rate – R‑III Retiree (Full Day): 130.00 / (Half Day): 70.00
• Substitute SPED Paraprofessional Daily Rate (Full Day): 125.00 / (Half Day): 65.00
• Substitute SPED Paraprofessional Daily Rate – R‑III Retiree (Full Day): 130.00 / (Half Day): 70.00
• Substitute Teacher 10+ Days (consecutive) in any classroom: 150.00
• Substitute Paraprofessional for 10+ Days (consecutive) in any classroom: 130.00

Full day rate is paid for all days worked that exceed four (4) hours.

District Substitutes are paid two times a month on the 15th and last day of each month.
