Job Description

Requirements: Must meet ONE of these requirements:

• 1. Be a Certified Teacher
• 2. Must have completed at least 36 college credit hours and have or will obtain a Substitute Certificate from DESE (Dept of Elementary and Secondary Education). Upon hire, links and instructions for this will be supplied.
• 3. (in lieu of 36 college credit hours) Register and complete the 20 hours of online training to be a substitute teacher available through Frontline Education. Training is available at the link below (just copy & paste). https://www.frontlineeducation.com/pages/resources/modese/

Responsibilities

• Delivering group and/or individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
• Managing student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Models conversation, manners, cleanup activities, listening skills, etc. for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
• Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Organizes age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities for the purpose of ensuring student participation in learning activities.
• Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Experience: Job related experience is highly recommended.

Education: Minimum 36 credit hours or approved 20 hour online training course.

Certificates/ Licenses: Missouri State Teaching Certificate or Missouri Substitute Certificate.

Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance and Family Care Safety Registry.

Terms of Employment

Substitute Teacher: As needed/called by the district. Daily Rate: $150 per day. Loyalty incentive - $100 for every quarter in which you sub the equivalent of 20 days.
