Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a dedicated substitute teacher to temporarily take over classroom instruction and management in the absence of the regular teacher. This part-time, on-call role serves across grade levels and subjects, supporting school needs.

Responsibilities include delivering lessons from prepared plans, maintaining an inclusive, respectful environment, supervising students in various areas, recording attendance, and communicating with staff and administrators to safeguard student

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check must be passed.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Active or expired educator’s license preferred.
• Previous classroom or childcare experience preferred.

• Manage classroom behavior in alignment with school policies and expectations.
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other assigned areas.
• Maintain a respectful and inclusive environment for all learners.
• Adapt to different grade levels, subject areas, and instructional needs as assigned.
• Record attendance and report any incidents, concerns, or issues to school administration.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Substitute teacher temporarily takes over classroom instruction and management in the absence of the regular teacher. They maintain an inclusive classroom atmosphere, and support students’ educational progress across various grade levels and subjects. Substitute teachers may be contacted for same-day, short-term, or long-term assignments, depending on school needs. This is a part-time position, and Substitutes are utilized on an as-needed basis.
