Job summary

Promesa Academy Charter School seeks an experienced substitute teacher to support classroom instruction and maintain a positive, structured learning environment in the absence of regular teachers.

The role requires prior classroom or substitute teaching experience, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to adapt across grade levels. Initially offered as a 1099 independent contractor with potential transition to full-time based on performance and campus needs.

Qualifications

• Must have prior substitute teaching or classroom experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Ability to follow instructional plans and adapt teaching strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the assigned teacher.
• Implement lesson plans and instructional materials provided by classroom teachers or campus administration.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, structured, and engaging learning environment.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management techniques to promote positive student behavior and academic engagement.
• Support students with varying academic abilities, learning styles, and educational needs.
• Ensure students remain engaged in meaningful instructional activities throughout the school day.
• Monitor student attendance, classroom behavior, and academic participation.
• Follow campus procedures, safety protocols, and student confidentiality requirements.
• Collaborate professionally with teachers, instructional assistants, administrators, and support personnel.
• Provide feedback regarding classroom activities, student progress, and behavioral concerns.
• Assist with additional instructional or student supervision responsibilities as assigned and mutually agreed upon.
