Job summary

School City of Hobart is seeking Substitute Teachers to support continuity of instruction and student supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitutes follow teacher-provided plans, maintain a safe and orderly learning environment, supervise students, and communicate appropriately with school staff.

This position is scheduled on an as-needed basis. The pay rates include $105.00 per day for licensed Indiana teachers, $95.00 per day for Substitute Permit holders with a

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Valid Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit or Indiana teaching license.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and interact effectively with students, staff, parents, and the public.
• Ability to adapt to different grade levels, subject areas, classroom routines, and school settings.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans, schedules, routines, and directions provided by the regular teacher and/or school administration.
• Maintain a safe, orderly, respectful, and supportive classroom environment and supervise students throughout the assignment.
• Implement assigned instructional activities, monitor student work, and provide assistance appropriate to the assignment.
• Take attendance, follow building procedures, and leave clear notes regarding work completed, student behavior, and significant concerns.
• Communicate promptly with school staff regarding questions, emergencies, student welfare issues, or situations requiring administrative support.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by an administrator.
