Job summary

Scoot Education is seeking a Substitute Teacher in Washington, DC. You will supervise and support students in the classroom, playground, or cafeteria, following lesson plans and ensuring safety and respect throughout the day.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's or higher, holds or is pursuing a teaching credential, and can demonstrate empathy, flexibility, and strong communication with staff, students, and families. Background checks are required; training and ongoing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, associate's degree or college credits.
• Three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor.
• State & federal background checks.
• Teaching credential/certificate or 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit.
• Experience in special education settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support students in the classroom, playground, or cafeteria.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
• Encourage student engagement and participation throughout the day.
• Manage classroom routines, behavior, and transitions as per lesson plans.
• Communicate clearly with school staff and leave notes for the returning teacher.
