Position Summary: ISDenver is seeking substitute teachers to add to its list who can provide short and potentially longer term cover for ISDenver teachers when they are absent for one or more days. ISDenver short term substitute teachers provide subject guidance to any class or group of students based on substitute teaching plans provided by the regular teacher ensuring their holistic developmental needs are met personal, social, emotional, and academic. Long term substitute teachers may be required to create their own teaching plans for the classroom with the assistance of ISDenver.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment, ensuring that students stay on task and follow the established rules.
• Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, ensuring that educational objectives are met and students continue their learning progress.
• Be flexible and able to adapt quickly to different grade levels, subjects, and school environments.
• Take attendance and report any relevant information to the school office. Keep records of daily activities and student behavior.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a smooth transition for students when the regular teacher is absent. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administrators.
• Oversee students during various activities, such as lunch, recess, and class changes.
• Adhere to school policies and procedures, including emergency protocols and safety measures.
• Exhibit a professional attitude and maintain confidentiality regarding students and school-related matters.
• Have a general understanding of various subjects and grade levels to effectively support student learning.
• Handle unexpected situations and behavioral issues with composure, implementing appropriate disciplinary measures as needed.

Qualifications and Personal Characteristics

• Supportive of the school's mission and values, with a genuine desire to create a nurturing environment.
• Proficiency in English (Level B2 required, C1+ preferred) and fluency in the target language (French), with excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods and proficiency in technology (Google Suite, databases, etc.).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating problem-solving skills, professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.
• Commitment to DEIB practices and respect for multicultural environments.
• Lived experience in multicultural and international settings is a plus.

Physical Demands

• Regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 25 pounds.
• Stand, walk, handle, reach, talk, hear; occasionally bend, stoop, kneel.

Location and Schedule

This is a part-time, hourly position with limited benefits. Work hours are typically 7:45am-3:45pm, M-F, with possible occasional outside hours. Must be based in Denver, CO.
