Middle School English Teacher (2025.2026 School Year)

KIPP St. Louis currently educates over 2,000 students and at full growth, we will educate nearly 3,600 students and hundreds of alumni. Today, our St. Louis network consists of two middle schools, three elementary schools, and a high school.

Working in either KIPP Inspire or KIPP Triumph Academy, you’re an enthusiastic educator stoking the academic interests of students. You love reading and writing and want to engage students to a lifelong love of reading. You’re excited to use our innovative Wit and Wisdom curriculum to discover the passions students have and ensure they feel confident in writing and reading every day! As an English teacher, you aim to teach your students the power of their voice through English.

Position Type: Full-time, Exempt, 10 months

Tentative Start Date: July 21, 2025

On a day-to-day basis, you can look forward to the following:

  1. Curriculum Development and Instruction
    • Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum
    • Develop academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments
    • Use data to inform instructional decisions
    • Provide students with daily feedback on performance and plan for individual learning needs
  2. Help Build a Positive School and Classroom culture
    • Embody and maintain school’s values, policies, and culture
    • Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff
    • Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress
    • Effectively supervise and manage a classroom of up to 30 students
    • Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and more
  3. Demonstrate a Growth Mindset
    • Pursue challenging professional goals each year
    • Give and receive positive and constructive feedback from your colleagues
    • Participate in school-wide and individual professional development

School-Based Staff must have the ability to...

  • Operate a computer and office equipment on a daily basis
  • Occasional moderate lifting, pushing and pulling
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Interpret policy, procedures and data
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written)

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related content area (REQUIRED)
  • Valid Missouri Teacher Certification or Missouri Substitute Certification or willingness to become certified ASAP (REQUIRED)
  • Pass Criminal Background Check
