Job summary

W.K. Jackson Leadership Academy is seeking dependable and flexible Substitute Teachers to support classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher.

You will deliver lessons, maintain a positive learning environment, and ensure student safety for scholars in PK4–4th grade. Successful candidates will hold a high school diploma and a current Oklahoma Substitute Teaching Certificate (or have the ability to obtain one).

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and classroom management skills.
• Current Oklahoma Substitute Teaching Certificate or ability to obtain one.
• High school diploma required; college degree preferred for substitution roles.

Responsibilities

• Follow the lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher to facilitate daily instruction.
• Maintain an orderly and respectful classroom environment in line with school expectations and values.
• Supervise and engage students in instructional and non-instructional settings (e.g., recess, lunch, hallway transitions).
• Communicate effectively with scholars and staff, using age-appropriate language and classroom management strategies.
• Provide feedback to the classroom teacher on student behavior, participation, and any notable incidents.
• Uphold all school policies, including attendance, safety procedures, and code of conduct.

Position Summary:

W.K. Jackson Leadership Academy is seeking dependable and flexible Substitute Teachers to support classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. Substitute teachers play a vital role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment, delivering lessons aligned with classroom goals, and ensuring the safety and well-being of our scholars.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Follow the lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher to facilitate daily instruction.
• Maintain an orderly and respectful classroom environment in line with school expectations and values.
• Supervise and engage students in instructional and non-instructional settings (e.g., recess, lunch, hallway transitions).
• Communicate effectively with scholars and staff, using age-appropriate language and classroom management strategies.
• Provide feedback to the classroom teacher on student behavior, participation, and any notable incidents.
• Uphold all school policies, including attendance, safety procedures, and code of conduct.
• Adjust instruction as needed to meet the needs of all learners while staying aligned with lesson objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma ; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Current Oklahoma Substitute Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain)
• Prior experience in a classroom or child-centered setting preferred
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and classroom management skills

Work Environment:

• School setting with children in grades PK4–4th Grade
• Requires mobility, standing for extended periods, and supervision of students both indoors and outdoors
• May require same-day or short-notice assignments
