Job summary

Easterseals Florida Explorer Academy in Bunnell is seeking a reliable Substitute Teacher to cover for regular staff during absences. The temporary full-time assignment lasts 3 months, with potential as-needed substitute duties thereafter.

Hours are 7:45 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, in a caring developmental setting. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma/GED, CPR/First Aid, and prefer experience with young children.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with young children preferred.
• Complete Florida 45-hour Child Care Training within 90 days of hire.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Experience with children with disabilities or special needs preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage across multiple age groups as needed.
• Follow lesson plans and guidance from the Director or classroom teacher.
• Supervise children at all times and maintain proper staff-to-child ratios.
• Assist with daily activities such as learning centers, meals, toileting, outdoor play, and rest time.
• Support children's social and emotional development through positive interactions.
• Engage children with open-ended questions to build vocabulary and knowledge.
• Maintain attendance records and daily notes.
• Communicate professionally with families and staff.
• Keep classrooms clean, organized, and safe; follow health and safety procedures.
• Uphold confidentiality and Easterseals policies.
• Adapt to different classrooms and routines; be a positive role model.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
• Perform other duties to support program operations.

Pay rate will be between $15.00 to $17.00 per hour

Temporary full-time substitute teacher for an initial 3-month assignment, transitioning to an as-needed substitute role thereafter. This position will provide coverage during staff absences, vacations, and periods of high client census.

Work hours will be scheduled between 7:45 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday

What You'll Do

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience working with young children preferred
• Successfully complete the Florida Department of Children & Families 45-hour Child Care Training in early childhood education within the first 90 days.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs
• Positive, patient, and supportive interactions with children
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
• Willingness to learn DCF standards, ASQ, Conscious Discipline, and developmentally appropriate practices
