Job summary

Easterseals Florida’s Explorer Academy in Bunnell is seeking a reliable and flexible Substitute Teacher to provide classroom support when regular staff are absent. This role helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment while supporting children’s learning and daily routines.

The substitute will cover across age groups and follow lesson plans, with hours 7:45 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Florida 45-hour Child Care Training required within 90 days.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs.
• Willingness to learn DCF standards, ASQ, Conscious Discipline, and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Energetic, professional, flexible, aligned with Easterseals values.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage across multiple age groups as needed.
• Follow lesson plans and guidance from Director or classroom teacher.
• Supervise children at all times and maintain staff-to-child ratios.
• Assist with daily activities such as learning centers, meals, toileting, outdoor play and rest time.
• Support children's social and emotional development through positive interactions.
• Engage children with open-ended questions to expand vocabulary and knowledge.
