Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION - TEACHER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The classroom teacher will work collaboratively with other building staff members to develop and motivate each student toward an awareness and understanding of the subject matter and/or skills needed to develop into mature, well-rounded, responsible young adults.The teacher will establish a positive rapport with students and will encourage them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for future success.

Reports to and evaluated by:Building Principal or Designee

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide an optimum learning environment for all students
  • Participate in, contribute to, and be supportive of group decisions and efforts
  • Collaborate with staff and work in teams to provide instruction to students
  • Employ a systematic instructional process designed to meet the needs of students in the classroom
  • Engage in purposeful, deliberate planning for instruction
  • Follow District and State guidelines for essential learning and instructional strategies
  • Work cooperatively with administration and staff in problem-solving and group process activities
  • Model lifelong learning, positive self-esteem, and respect for others
  • Set and maintain high personal, professional, and instructional standards for self and students
  • Adhere to the Washington Code of Professional Conduct
  • Perform other related duties as required or requested
