Wallington School District is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide coverage in the absence of regular teachers. The position reports to the Superintendent Secretary or Principal's Secretary and involves following planned lessons, supervising students, and maintaining orderly classroom conditions.
The substitute will sign in/out daily, assist with attendance, communicate important notices, and ensure safety of students. School policies and the Staff Handbook guide daily duties and procedures.
TITLE: SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO: Superintendent Secretary or Principal's Secretary
SUPERVISES: Students in absent teacher's class.
JOB GOAL:
To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning, and safe classroom environment in the teacher's absence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to main office; signs in and checks out at the end of the day.
Follows Teacher Plans as closely as possible
Keeps track of material used.
Leaves the room in an orderly condition (teacher's desk, library, storage cabinets.
Makes notations for the regular teacher of any notices for the day, such as faculty meetings, etc.
Elementary and High School: Takes attendance and maintains accurate records - ensures health and safety of students in their car
Complete the Substitute's Report and places it in the sub folder.
Returns Substitute's Report and planbook to the office at the end of the day.
Distributes flyers and other materials on the due date.
Reports all accidents to the office immediately. The office will advise on all necessary first aid to be administered. Requests an Accident Report form and completes it as directed. Follows procedures outlined in the Staff Handbook (Teacher's Manual).
Communicateswith the main office before proceeding when in doubt on any action to be taken.
