  • Maintains and respects the confidentiality of student and personnel information.
  • Ensures accurate recording and timely submittal of student attendance.
  • Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Parent-Student Handbook.
  • Communicates occurrences relating to student discipline, conduct, attendance and instruction to teacher and campus administration, as necessary.
  • Assists in the supervision of students before and after school, as scheduled.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Participates in staff development training programs, meetings, and special events as assigned.

SUBSTITUTE

REPORTS TO: Campus Principal

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Experience in teaching, substitute teaching or college coursework in the education field.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

In support of the mission of the school district, provides students with appropriate instruction and learning activities to facilitate their learning in the absence of the regular teacher.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Substitute Pay Grade, Temporary, At-Will

Wage/Hour Status: Subject to Assignment

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Ensures adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students.

EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, copier, fax machine, other office equipment, and standard instructional equipment.

Mental Demands: Has the ability to: read, effectively communicate (verbally and written), maintain emotional control under stress, work prolonged or irregular hours, perform multiple tasks, and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, bend, twist, speak, hear, perform repetitive hand motions, withstand prolonged use of a computer, and lift up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work: inside and outside, with regular exposure to noise, and with frequent interruptions. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; assist non-ambulatory students. May encounter possible biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Must have the ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
