Summary: The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing instructional support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This position ensures continuity of learning by implementing lesson plans, maintaining a safe and productive classroom environment, and fostering positive student engagement. The Substitute Teacher promotes academic achievement while adhering to school policies, procedures, and professional standards.

Job Knowledge and Abilities: Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow written lesson plans and instructional directions. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Flexibility and adaptability to work in various grade levels and subject areas. Ability to think critically and respond appropriately to changing classroom situations. Basic proficiency with educational technology and classroom computer systems. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred. Must meet all state and local certification and/or licensure for long term substitute assignments. Successful completion of required background checks and fingerprinting.
Physical/Mental Demands: Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, supervising students, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement throughout the school day.
