Role Description

The Substitute Teacher role is a part-time, on-site position located in San Diego, CA within the Poway Unified School District. Substitute Teachers provide classroom instruction in the absence of regular teachers, following established lesson plans, school policies, and district guidelines. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing classroom environments, delivering lessons, supporting student learning, and maintaining accurate records such as attendance. The role may involve teaching various grade levels and subjects, adapting to different classroom settings, and collaborating with school staff to ensure continuity of instruction and a safe, respectful learning atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Education and Teaching, with the ability to support diverse learners across multiple grade levels.
• Experience with Lesson Planning and Training to effectively implement and adapt instructional materials and activities.
• Effective Communication skills for engaging students, collaborating with staff, and interacting with families when needed.
• Ability to manage classrooms, maintain a positive learning environment, and follow school and district procedures.
• Relevant credential or permit to substitute teach in California, and prior classroom or youth-focused experience preferred.
• Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and professionalism in working in different schools and grade levels as needed.
