Substitute Teacher

The Environmental Charter School is seeking candidates for substitute teaching positions. Successful candidates must be progressive minded, and embody a can‑do spirit and work ethic. For best consideration, candidates should possess relevant teaching experience, a demonstrated track record of success in developing and implementing strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of learning needs, and a “whatever it takes” attitude to ensure that all students succeed at a high level.

OVERVIEW

ECS substitute teachers must have strong teaching abilities, an understanding of pedagogy and instructional practices in their respective field of education, and a strong interest in environmental studies. ECS teachers work in a highly collaborative environment making deep connections with students. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with grade level and specialist teams.

Educational Background and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • PA teacher certification. Out-of-state certification must be approved by the PA Dept. of Education.
  • Familiarity with charter schools and K-10 students
Compensation and Benefits
  • $150.00 per day for long‑term substitutes (single assignment of 4 consecutive weeks or longer)
  • Participation in 403b retirement plan after 400 hours worked.
