Job summary

Mandan Public School District is seeking Substitute Teachers for all MPS schools in Mandan, North Dakota. The daily rate is $150 for a full day and $75 for a half day.

Starting date is to be determined, with an on-site Brave Center intake process and standard new-hire forms. Substitutes must hold a valid North Dakota teaching license for long-term substitutes, be at least 18, and be able to follow both oral and written directions and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Job Description

Mandan Public Schools (MPS) is currently seeking Substitute Teachers for all MPS schools.

The daily rate of pay is $150 for a full day and $75 for a half day (all hours worked up to 4 hours).

Once the application is complete, report to the Brave Center, 901 Division Street NW, Mandan ND to complete the substitute teacher information sheet. Followed by other new hire forms such as I-9, W-4, Direct Deposit, etc.

Substitute Status Requirement: If a substitute does not accept or complete an assignment within one full year, they will be removed from the active substitute system and required to reapply and complete updated hiring paperwork.

Please bring:

1. Identification for verification and eligibility:

• U.S. Passport (unexpired) OR
• Two forms of Identification (for example: driver's license and socialsecurity card, government issued ID and certified copy of birth certificate, Native American tribal document)

2. Direct Deposit slip or voided check for direct deposit.

Purpose:

A substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teaches scheduled classes.
• Prepares a written summary of work completed.
• Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the absent teacher.
• Follows the teacher’s written lesson plans.
• Consults with the principal and/or staff toresolve questions and/or concerns.
• Complies with all building procedures and schedules.
• Promotes the proper use and careof school property.
• Makes the absent teacher aware of special situations or problems encountered.
• Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
• Implements effective pupil management procedures.
• Maintains high standards andupholds the student conduct code.
• Intervenes and/or reports concerns to an administrator.
• Develops and maintains a positive learning environment.
• Works cooperatively with staff and parents.
• Incorporates the effective use of available technology.
• Upholds computer technology acceptable use policies.
• Respects personal privacy.
• Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
• Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety.
• Does not leave students unsupervised.
• Supervises non-classroom duties when assigned.
• Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
• Performs other specific job‑related duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
