Under the general supervision of the Director of Auxiliary Programs, the successful candidate will partner with faculty to provide on-call support and supervision during the school day. Substitute teachers are responsible for maintaining continuity in the instructional program during the regular teacher's absence.

We are currently seeking substitute teachers comfortable working with Toddlers, Preschoolers, Kindergarteners, Elementary, and Middle School students. You will collaborate with experienced support staff and teachers. This is a per diem, hourly position and is not eligible for benefits.

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Follow the instructional guide and class expectations outlined in teachers’ lesson plans.
  2. Create and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom.
  3. Clean the teaching area at the end of the day, including putting all equipment and materials away; have students place chairs on desks as per usual daily practice.
  4. Perform any other tasks assigned by the absent teacher on that day (e.g., lunch, recess).
  5. Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, and safety protocols.

Applicants should send their resume and three references to Mike Scalese, Director of Auxiliary Programs, at employ@lexmontessori.org.
