Job summary

Kalamazoo Christian Schools is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and faith-driven Substitute Teachers to support our classrooms across Preschool through 12th grade in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role supports educational continuity and reinforces a Christ-centered learning environment when regular teachers are absent.

You will follow lesson plans, model faith integration, supervise students, and communicate progress to the returning teacher.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: at least 60 earned college credits or valid/expired teaching certificate.
• Background check: Ability to pass a State of Michigan criminal background check and Livescan fingerprinting prior to hiring.

Responsibilities

• Execute lesson plans with fidelity and maintain a safe, engaging learning environment.
• Faith integration: Model Christ-like behavior and support a Biblical worldview in interactions with students, faculty, and staff.
• Student supervision: Maintain active supervision of students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, and recess as assigned.
• Communication: Leave detailed notes for the returning teacher regarding lesson progress, student behavior, and any notable incidents.
• Safety & security: Follow all school policies, emergency protocols, and child safety guidelines at all times.
