Job summary

Putnam County Charter School System is seeking a substitute teacher to temporarily fill in for the regular classroom teacher, delivering lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment to ensure student progress is not interrupted.

The role requires arriving on time, following lesson plans, and effectively communicating with students, parents, and staff. Candidates must have RESA substitute training, a diploma or GED, and a background check; interviews are conducted by the HR Director.

Qualifications

• Substitute training completed through Oconee RESA; RESA training required unless certified teachers are exempt.
• High school diploma or GED; teaching certification or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Clear background check required; interview with HR director; substitute application on file.
• Additional Substitute Teacher & Ethics training may be assigned.

Responsibilities

• Arrive to the school location on time dressed neatly and professionally.
• Provide appropriate instruction based on lesson plans provided by the teacher.
• Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Assist all students in achieving academic standards.
• Treats students with dignity and respect and maintains student confidentiality.
• Effectively manages the behavior of learners to ensure the environment is conducive to learning.
• Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
• Must be flexible and prepared for changes to the original assignment, depending on the needs of the school.
• Follow federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures.
• Physical demands position requires significant standing and some sitting, kneeling and walking. Must be able to move with the classroom and school setting
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Qualifications/Requirements

• Substitute Training completed through Oconee RESA - Substitute Teacher Training - Oconee RESA (Certified Teachers are not required to complete RESA Training.)
• High school diploma or GED; Teaching certification or bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Clear Background Check is required (Contact Putnam County Board of Education for procedures)
• Interview with Human Resources Director is required.
• Completed Substitute Teacher application must be on file.
• Additional Substitute Teacher & Ethics training may be assigned.
• Ability to relate well to students, parents, and co-workers.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Substitute Teachers work on a "As-Needed" basis. Work assignments are not guaranteed.
