• Oversees pupil behavior in class, lunch and recess and handles record keeping.
• Reports daily activities on the provided form at day’s end.
• Completes payroll forms using the school office form.
• Follows district policies and good teaching practices.

Job Description

TITLE: Teacher (Substitute)

QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate certification from the state department of education; ability to develop learning skills of students such as problem solving/communication skills; ability to maintain good rapport with students, faculty and parents and ability to plan and organize to maximize an effective use of time.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reports to the principal or his/her designee upon arrival at the school.
• Reviews with the appropriate person all plans and schedules to be followed during the day.
• Teaches the lesson(s) outlined and described in the lesson plan(s) prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consults with principal or his/her designee before departing from the absent teacher’s lesson plan.
• Assumes all responsibilities assumed by the absent teacher to include overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods and record keeping duties.
• Report in writing, on the form provided at the school office, on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Complete form, provided at the school office, for payroll purposes.
• Follows all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Term contract with specified beginning and ending dates as indicated in letter of employment.

EVALUATION: Evaluation of the performance of this job will be based on a combination of self evaluation and supervisor’s evaluation according to the procedures developed for all district personnel.
