Bethany School in Cincinnati seeks an on-call Substitute Teacher to ensure continuity of education and a safe classroom environment in the absence of the regular teacher. You will implement lesson plans, manage classroom behavior, and adapt to different teaching styles while upholding our school's core values.
Applicants should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with students from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and a respectful approach to diverse learning needs.
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for ensuring the continuity of education and a safe environment for students in the absence of the regular teacher. The Substitute Teacher will implement lesson plans, manage classroom behavior, and adapt to different teaching styles while upholding Bethany School's core values. This is an on-call position.
Executes lesson plans and instructional materials left by the regular teacher.
Exhibits a solid working knowledge of best teaching practices.
Maintains discipline, order, and a respectful, productive learning atmosphere.
Fosters and stewards a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy.
Monitors students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and recess or playground areas.
Takes daily attendance and maintain accurate records according to school procedures.
Provides end-of-day summaries for returning teachers and communicate promptly with administration in cases of emergencies or discipline.
Upholds Bethany school policies, safety protocols, and privacy/confidentiality standards.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to manage groups of students across varying age levels including Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Capability to transition quickly between different grade levels, subjects, and daily routines.
Strong interpersonal and verbal skills for engaging with students, parents, and staff.
Detail-oriented with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
A nurturing and respectful approach to student needs and diverse learning styles.
Basic proficiency in using standard educational technology and digital classroom platforms.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
Valid substitute teaching permit (preferred).
Previous experience teaching, tutoring, or working with school-aged children preferred.
