Job summary

Great Hearts Academies in Glendale is seeking a Substitute K-5 Specially Designed Instruction Teacher. You will support students with IEP goals through specialized instruction under supervision and help track progress.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree and an Arizona teaching certificate (Substitute, Special Education, or Alternative). Prior K-12 experience and SPED certification are preferred. This is an hourly, non-exempt role with local training travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with AZ teaching certification required.
• 1 year of successful teaching experience (K-12 preferred).
• Substitute Certification or SPED Certification preferred.
• Certification in Cross/Categorical or Mild/Moderate Disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans aligned with individual IEP goals under supervision.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group SDI for students with IEPs.
• Assist with data collection and progress monitoring of IEP goals.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans for learning activities that align with individual student IEP goals that are created under supervision of a certified special education teacher or coordinator.
• Provide one on one or small groupspecially designed instructionin academics, behavioral or social/emotional need areasfor students with IEPs based on IEP goals
• Assist with data collection and progress monitoring of students IEP goals

Required/Preferred Education

Bachelor's degree and Arizona Teaching Certificates Substitute, Special Education Teaching Certificate, or Alternative Certification.

Required/Preferred Experience

1 year of successful teaching experience (preferably in a K-12 school setting)

1 Year Of Successful Special Education Teaching Experience (preferred)

The ideal candidate has previous experience in Special Education.

Required/Preferred Skills

Certifications: Arizona Department of Education Substitute Certification, Special Education Certificate in Cross/Categorical or Mild/Moderate; Alternative Teaching with approved area in Mild/Moderate Disabilities.

Physical Functions

Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.

US work authorization

isrequired, but we do accept OPT/CPT candidates.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
